Melissa Barbieri returns to Southport Galleries with new frescos and oils. Fellow artists Ann Rechtermann and Nina Gagarin add an extensive array of nautical and silver-leaf paintings to the collection.
Melissa Barbieri returns to Southport Galleries with provocative new work evoking both the heavens and the sea in frescoes and oils; ranging from compositions such as a silver leaf sundial titled Poetic Astronomy, to a life size figurative painting of a mermaid encrusted in starfish and seashells and netting.
Ann Rechtermann has an impressive array of smaller works in silver and gold leaf, and India ink of foliage, fruits, sea life and animals, perfect for hanging in a series or grouping.
Nina Gagarin recently relocated her successful 25 year decorative arts atelier in Palm Beach back to Greenwich, Ct. She will be showing a variety of her works, including her showpiece; a dramatic painting of a giant clam shell on a white linen cloth against an inky black ground entitled “OCEANIA”.
