Artist Tina Duryea is delighted to present two bodies of work in this solo exhibit at the Darien Nature Center. At first glance the work might seem diametrically opposed to each other, almost the work two different artists. On the one hand you have organic, abstract mixed media splatter works on paper. On the other hand there are contemporary landscapes in oil. The intersection is in their inspiration in the natural world, in their interest in color theory and the ways that colors interact with each other and in their enthusiasm for embracing the peculiar personalities of the medium.

Duryea has shown her work is in NYC, Houston, Washington DC, Greenwich, Alexandria and Wellington Florida. Her work can be found in public and private collections on every continent except Antartica.

Tina Duryea went to Darien High School, Mount Holyoke College and the School of Visual Arts. She currently resides in Rowayton and paints full time. In addition to her splatter paintings and landscapes she has recently spent the month of January painting a political portrait a day, she accepts commissions and is developing a product line based on her abstract art which goes under the name Flora & May.
