Atmospheric Moments, the first exhibit of the Flinn Gallery in Greenwich Library, running from September 8 – October 19, opens with a celebration of color. Three female artists, Bascove, Rachel Burgess, and Sage Tucker-Ketcham, fill the space with work of stimulating richness. Their artwork tells stories that are shaped by their own creativity.

Atmospheric Moments - Opening Reception at The Flinn Gallery

Bascove has always been drawn to the mystery of bridges, attracted by their physical beauty and fascinated by their histories. Her contemporary views in this show of the Central Park bridges are pulsating and exploding with energy and animation usually associated with the metropolis of NYC.

Rachel Burgess, a monotype printmaker, begins by stretching from life, outdoors, reducing subjects to basic forms and colors and downgrading extraneous details. She creates large-scale works on paper inspired by the scenery of New England.

Sage Tucker-Ketcham’s paintings investigate intentional and psychological relationships between color, form, and space. Inspired by themes related to American Regionalism, her oil paintings upon first glance are accessible traditionalist rural landscapes. However, closer inspection reveals conversations between buildings and manicured landscapes that are intentional abstract compositions revealing a conceptual subterfuge about human connection and relationship dynamics.

Atmospheric Moments, presented by the curatorial team of Barbara Richards, Linda Butler, Mia Newton, and Karen Sheer, provides viewers with an opportunity to stimulate their imaginations through colorful, thought-provoking works, thanks to the inventive minds of these three talented artists.
