The Horticulture and Conservation Committees of the Garden Club of Darien are partnering with the Darien Pollinator Pathway and the Darien Nature Center for an evening with Sefra Alexandra, aka the “Seed Huntress”, on Wednesday, May 25 at the Darien Nature Center!

Reception: 5:30 PM
Program: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Sefra is an endurance race ethnobotanist on a hunt to preserve the biodiversity of our wild and cultivated lands through seed conservation. In 2020 she began BOATanical.org where she guides expeditions that are paddlin’ for the pollinators – planting native plants by boat along riparian corridors.

She leads The Ecotype Project and will talk about Ecological Restoration: The Ecotype Project has created a model for native plant material development to make sure we are planting the right plant in the right place. This truly local seed supply chain begins with trained botanists who wild-collect seed which is then grown as a specialty crop by organic farmers with the intention of re-wilding our fragmented landscape.
