Art comes in all forms and movements.
These movements evolve from reactions, whether they be political, environmental or reactionary. Often one movement becomes the norm until another movement occurs – Impressionism leads to Modernism leads to Abstraction and so on. Left and Right of Center examines in a small way the trajectory of these movements.
Andrew Wyeth, while considered a realist, was a reactionary as he did not follow the path of abstraction. John Henry Twactman was reactionary as he was more abstractionist than the traditional Impressionists of his day. Keith Haring used graffiti as an art form. Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol both changed art as we knew it. These are but a few artists in our exhibition that illustrate that it is often prudent as an artist to look away from the considered norm.
The Barn @ Downing Yudain LLC is proud to have all the artists, who took or are taking a different path, in the exhibition. We hope you will join us on the 5th to view the show, including several newly added works.
