With such an overlooked everyday visual, it’s easy to dismiss the alphabet from any artistic essence. From something that we learned in our very first years of life, to something that we now use almost more than we speak – letters are the very thing we want to put to the test.

In this upcoming juried exhibit ‘Not Your Usual Alphabet’, we are looking for a unique, ‘unusual’ spin on letters, and/or numbers, presenting them in a new and expressive way. This exhibit will be juried by international artist Reso, and with works by featured renowned artist BlusterOne. All other works by selected member artists of the GAC.

For Reso, also known as Patrick Jungfleisch, the city of New York has, in many ways, always played a significant role. It was there, that Reso was first exposed to the graffiti-carrying subways, which triggered his ever-lasting fascination for traditional graffiti. He himself picked up the first spray can in the late 1980s and soon thereafter his local reputation as a graffiti writer had transmitted into international fame. Up until 2004 Reso visited many of Europe’s and North America’s major cities, leaving his signature designs and graphics on hundreds of public walls.

Reso continues to create and run his own gallery in Saarbrücken, Germany.
