JUDITH LAMBERTSON
Judith says, “The works in this show are studio paintings, and works in plein air. My paintings spring from the experience of location. I enjoy finding the forms and observing the play of light. Early morning or late afternoon are my favorite times to paint. In my studio, the paintings may take on a new life.
Now I slow down and struggle. However, when it looks like I am close to feeling the work is resolved, I turn them to the wall. Some of the time when I look again it’s as if they finished themselves.”
LINA MORIELLI
Lina was born in Montreal, Canada and grew up in Darien, now lives in Stamford. Besides studying at Parsons School of Design, she spent and three decades in New York City designing and editing crafts for Woman’s Day and Family Circle magazines, among others.
Lina was President of Stamford’s Loft Artists Association for three years and a board member of approximately one-dozen Stamford nonprofits over the last four decades. She has taught after-school and summer art programs. She also has curated exhibitions in the area, including fifteen years of exhibitions in Stamford’s Mayor’s Gallery.
Lina’s work has been exhibited widely in Fairfield County and Westchester County and has also been featured in solo exhibitions in New York and Los Angeles. Her paintings and mixed media art are in over one-hundred private collections and have been permanently exhibited in public spaces as part of the Connecticut One Percent for Art Collection, as well as at area hospitals and universities, and public buildings.
Lina says, “I am interested in the subconscious, memories that resurface, trauma that lingers, and most importantly time as we live and work in the present and how the external forces of world events determine and influence creativity…
The work I’m showing in SUMMER BREAK began in 2020 as a direct reaction to the pandemic. I created during a three year period over 200 pieces of art, including drawings, monoprints, and paintings. …My intention for the new work has been influenced by a calmer environment, thus my approach more playful, resulting in broader use of materials resulting in a more densely rich finished painting”.
