The Summer Crush exhibition will showcase original paintings by a group of artists, each of whom draws inspiration from water and the coast in a wide variety of styles, from abstract to hyper-realistic. At 2:30 pm, guests are invited to join us for an Artist Talk when four featured artists – Julia Contacessi, Kelly Rossetti, Nealy Hauschildt, and Tony Iadicicco – will discuss the processes behind their work. Artists will open with a short talk followed by a Q&A portion. Light refreshments including a summer rosé will be served.
“This show brings together eleven local, regional, and national artists, with work centered around a specific subject,” says Sorelle Gallery Owner, Sandra Pelletier. “This is an opportunity to see the subject, in this case, the coast, through varying lenses. While one artist may capture a seascape with energetic strokes from water to sky, another might zero in on the way sunlight hits water as it ripples; while one might be drawn to the texture of sand, another fixates on the way it looks as it’s enveloped by a wave. At its core, the Summer Crush exhibition is about interpretation – artists that have found what inspires them dove into it wholly, and presented it new.”
Summer Crush will be on view at Sorelle Gallery’s Westport, CT location at 19 Church Lane through July 6, 2024. The show and associated opening reception are free and open to the public. Street parking is available. This is a family-friendly event. Dogs welcome.
