URBAN LANDSCAPES: Multimedia Artists at The Greenwich Arts Council

Our new exhibit showcases the experience of living in a metropolis with artworks by Luigi Cazzaniga, Angiola Churchill, Ellen Colcord, Martha Diamond, Rise Frisenda, Carol Ross, Anne Spalter and Annette Tacconelli.

Urban Landscape is a group show of multimedia artists (painting, video, photography, sculpture and mixed media) who live and work in New York City. It showcases the experience of living in a metropolis as a multi-faceted “cosmology”, that reflects the energy, color and form within the highly complex structures of the city. Here, the artists imbibe the force of this complexity as a personal experience. They come to terms with living apart from nature. The Island of Manhattan is the main source of inspiration: mounted on a giant rock, surrounded by the Hudson and East Rivers, dotted with parks and a slow greening of the city. The artists learn to live with the structures of massive steel and brick that embrace them.

Curated by artist Ellen Colcord, this exhibition presents a variety of works in many mediums. Colcord will also present a series of lectures and workshops during the run of the exhibition. She is an internationally recognized fine artist and educator, who has taught and exhibited her work for over 25 years. She holds a Master of Arts from New York University, and has done extensive Master’s Studies at Yale University and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Urbino, Italy.

Come and discover these diverse multimedia pieces and meet their creators, all based in New York City!
